Bright Future: Save Petrol/Burn Cars
Our friends at Stolenspace Gallery in London recently debuted a massive new art exhibition titled, Sound & Vision. American artist Shepard Fairey created a visual and conceptual homage to the influence of music upon his stylized aesthetic. Among the nearly 200 different works on canvas, paper, wood, and aluminum, the large scale Bright Future:Save Petrol/Burn Cars on canvas was our clear favorite. The painting, an effective and satirical spin on Jamie Reid's Nowhere Buses, complete with burning Rolls Royce's and a Suburban Press bumper sticker, sold on opening night.
Fairey also recruited the help of vinyl wizard, DJ Z-Trip, who performed a unique mix of tunes to accompany the paintings and prints. You can download and listen to the Z-Trip Sound & Vision mixtape right here on the KCRW website.
Great stuff.
