Outside In: Art In the Streets Recap

Last year, a monumental exhibit was presented by the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Art in the Streets. The first, comprehensive U.S. survey of what is loosely referred to as Street Art, the above Outside In documentary chronicles the scope and cultural significance of the show. Curated by MOCA Director, Jeffrey Deitch, with assistance by Aaron Rose and Roger Gastman, the show included major works and installations from more than fifty different artists.

Metropolis II at LACMA

The long-awaited and massive Chris Burden artwork, Metropolis II, has finally arrived at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It officially opens to the public this weekend. We're looking forward to taking in the spectacle at the LACMA Members preview on Thursday, January 12, 2012. See you there.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has finally released an opening date for the much-awaited Metropolis II installation by Chris Burden. Scheduled to publically debut on January 14, 2011, the LACMA site states:

As we've have mentioned on our blog previously, conceptual artist Chris Burden and his nearly-completed Metropolis II, is set to debut at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art very soon.  We can't wait to experience this assembly of art and automobile in person, as we anticipate it to be a profound assault upon the senses and the imagination.

 Los Angeles artist, Chris Burden, recently completed Metropolis II, which features over 1,000 toys cars and miles of track. The kinetic work will be on display later this fall at LACMA.
